How many hours will I need ?

The answer to this question is “It Depends”. Each student will have different abilities when it comes to learning to drive. Lessons will be tailored to suit learning style and ability. Students will be coached along at a pace that is suitable for their learning rate. The DVSA guideline states that it takes approximately 44hrs of professional instruction to reach the standard required to pass the modern driving test. Some students will take more than this, and some students will take less.

What do you recommend then ?

When first starting lessons it is a very steep learning curve. Mastering the coordination needed to operate a manual car, can be a challenge at first. I always recommend that students start their training by doing 2 hr lessons as the elements of the syllabus are covered. This gives them more time behind the wheel to drive and practice the skills. It is also important that lessons are taken on a regular basis. Gaps in training results in delayed learning and leads to subjects having to be recovered. For this reason we offer block bookings to ensure that training sessions are in the diary.

How do get booked in with you ?

In the first instance complete our “Contact/Enquiry Form”. This will provide us with all your details and availability for lessons. We will then check this against our availability. If it is possible to take you on as a student an account will be created for you and you will be sent a link to our online booking system that you can use to book in your lessons.

Pay as you go OR Block Voucher ?

Lessons can be booked online upto 4 months in advance. Lessons can be booked on a Pay As You Go basis as 1hr, 1.5hr or 2h lessons. If you wish to buy a block booking voucher this is also possible. Vouchers are either a 7.5hr or 10hr block, made up of 1.5hr or 2hr lessons respectivly.

How Long Will It Take Me ?

If you take 2hr lessons, based on DVSA average of 44hrs, then you could be at Driving test Standard in approx 5.5 Months (22weeks)

Taking 1hr lessons will generally increase the overall number of lessons required buy 1.5 times, as less practice time/topic is possible. This means you may require 66hrs of lessons to reach the same test standard. At 1hr per week this is 16.5 Months (66weeks).
